̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½Íøվ’s biogas technology enables our recent $150M investment to produce and supply renewable liquid hydrogen to the western U.S. mobility markets.

Today, ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ joins the nation in celebrating National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day,  raising awareness of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies that contribute to the US energy transition. In celebrating this day, ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ announces plans to produce renewable liquid hydrogen at our plant to be located in North Las Vegas, Nevada.  Hydrogen will be produced in part from renewable natural gas (RNG) upgraded from biogas using our advanced separation membrane technology.

The deployment trajectory for hydrogen energy infrastructure requires investments in the development of reliable and resilient hydrogen supply chain solutions. This large scale project will include production of 30 tons of liquid hydrogen per day.  This project represents the first step expanding hydrogen supply to the region, enabling the market in California to continue its growth to an expected 200 stations by 2025. California currently has the largest total number of fuel cell vehicles and one of the largest networks of retail refueling stations in the world.

̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ is committed to producing hydrogen to meet the renewable requirements of the mobility market in California. In addition to this new production facility, ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ has announced the world's largest hydrogen production project utilizing a proton exchange membrane-based electrolyzer, located in Canada. ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ has also invested in the development of two new landfill biogas purification plants in the U.S. that will help support the pathways to renewable hydrogen. The purification and valorization of biogas is a promising example of  resource utilization in a sustainable economy. As world leaders with technologies and expertise that span the entire biogas to RNG to hydrogen market, ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ is transforming the way sustainability is approached.

̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½Íøվ’s commitment to hydrogen energy
Over the past 50 years, ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ has developed unique expertise enabling it to master the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production and storage to distribution and the development of applications for end users, thus contributing to the widespread use of hydrogen as a clean energy source, for mobility in particular. ̨Íå²Ê¹Ù·½ÍøÕ¾ has designed and installed more than 120 stations around the world to date. Hydrogen is an alternative fuel meeting the challenges of clean transportation and contributes to the improvement of air quality. Used in a fuel cell, hydrogen combines with oxygen in the air to produce electricity, emitting only water. It does not generate any pollution at the point of use: zero greenhouse gases, zero particles and zero noise. Hydrogen provides a solution to the challenges posed by sustainable mobility and regional pollution.
